Editorial policy
The naturaveda Magazine explains everyday health questions and what current research shows about plant compounds and nutrients. This page describes who writes our articles, how we use sources and how we handle the fact that naturaveda also sells dietary supplements.
Who writes the articles
Articles are written by Michael Hartmann, the founder of naturaveda, who has spent more than thirty years studying nutrition, micronutrients and medicinal plants. He is not a physician. Our articles explain research and help you ask better questions. They do not diagnose anything and do not replace a conversation with your doctor or pharmacist.
How we use sources
- We rely on peer-reviewed research, preferably human studies, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Every study we refer to is listed and linked at the end of the article, usually to its PubMed entry.
- We report what a study actually measured: who took part, how much they took and for how long. We do not stretch a result from one group of people, one dose or one plant part to another.
- When research on an ingredient is limited and its use rests mainly on tradition, we say so and describe it as traditional use.
- Research describes ingredients. It is never presented as proof that one of our products does something.
Our products and this magazine
naturaveda makes dietary supplements. Where an article relates to a topic one of our formulas is made for, we mention that product once, clearly labeled, and link to its full label. The rest of the article stays neutral. We do not accept payment or free products from other companies for coverage, and we do not write about other brands' products.
Safety comes first
Every article includes a section on when to see a doctor. Supplements can interact with medication and are not right for everyone, especially during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Statements about dietary supplements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and our products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
Reviews, updates and corrections
Each article shows the date it was first published and the date it was last reviewed. We review articles when important new research appears. If you find an error, please tell us through our contact page. We correct factual mistakes promptly and update the review date.
